Holiday Overeating – A Joyous Time!

Who doesn’t like to let go and forget about the calories? This time of year you need no excuse to over eat its just part of the territory. It doesn’t matter which holiday you celebrate, eating food prepared specially for the holiday is a major component of the fun and the family traditions.

Feeding a large gathering is not cheap. Whether you frequent the ‘no name’ grocery stores, farmers markets or the main markets, feeding the crowd is expensive.  Just when you thought your budget could not stretch any further you have to feed a crowd of 10, 20 etc.  Family and friends help out, they bring dishes, drinks whatever you ask but the main financial burden of the meal falls on the host home and it can put a crimp in the monthly budget.

Here are a few suggestions for making the budget stretch and keeping a festive table.

  • Go to the dollar stores, the real dollar stores where every item costs a dollar. They have tons of wonderful paper products, holiday lights, plastic serving pieces and just about anything you could need to make your home look festive.
  • Scour the internet for recipes that make a fancy presentation but are inexpensive to make, one such recipe that I found is Oreo Cookie Balls. Made from crushed up Oreo cookies and cream cheese these snacks can be decorated in a myriad of ways to reflect many different holidays. They look like expensive custom candies and taste great. Who doesn’t like Oreos?
  • Consider taking out a personal loan to make ends meet, a payday loan is perfect if you can pay it back within a short time. What fun are the holidays if you’re worried sick that you can’t pay the utilities bill?  Did you know that it can take up to half of the year for many people to pay off the bills created during the holiday? It’s true! Half of the people have their bills paid off by the end of January but the rest of us can take a much longer time to recoup.

Whatever you choose to do to make it easier to cope with holiday expense don’t forget to enjoy. If you choose to take a short term loan like a payday loan make sure you get it paid back as fast as possible. A payday loan can be an easy and inexpensive way (when compared to overdraft fees etc.) to stretch your budget but only if it is paid back quickly.

Have a wonderful Holiday Season!
